Our Story

In 2014, Mitchell Learning Academy was founded by the Mitchell Family with the passion to provide high quality early childhood education in Jacksonville, Florida. Our philosophy and approach stem directly from Mrs. Mitchell’s health care education and experience in the government, non-profit and public sectors — which has provided her with insights into the benefits of healthy and positive early childhood development.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which ages do you serve for child care?

We care for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old in our child care and after school programs.

Both Mitchell Learning Academy locations are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The following financial and scholarship assistance is available and accepted at Mitchell Learning Academy.

Step Up for Students is available for private school students (K and 1st) who meet the income or other eligibility requirements. The Early Learning Coalition of Duval School Readiness program provides financial assistance to families with children birth to 12 years of age to offset the expense of child care programs and allow parents to work or attend school. Qualifying families pay a portion of child care costs based on the family’s income, household size, and other factors.

You can also register for free VPK (voluntary pre-Kindergarten) through the Early Learning Coalition website. Children must live in Florida and be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year to be eligible. VPK is free of charge to all 4-year-old children in Florida regardless of family income.

For children who are not VPK-eligible, ELC assesses your parent co-pay based on your family size and income documentation. This amount will then be added to the difference the parent is responsible for. Please understand that your eligibility for child care is only authorized for a specific date and time reflected on your Certificate of Eligibility.
